It would have been interesting to see how the WWE would have developed the feud between CM Punk and The Undertaker had Paul Bearer not passed away. They have really run with that. It has made the outcome of this match pretty obvious.
The Undertaker has to get his revenge against CM Punk. Punk has been built up too well as the heel in this feud. Punk will obviously have supporters at Wrestlemania, but in terms of booking, this all seems to be leading to Taker winning. That was probably the idea the whole time, but the storyline development just makes it more obvious. I felt "The Streak" was more in jeopardy in the past few Wrestlemanias than this one. For this Wrestlemania, it seems more about revenge. Taker can definitely lose by DQ or some other shady finish after not being able to control his emotions, but I don't see that happening.
How could the WWE have developed this differently to really sell CM Punk as a more legitimate threat to The Undertaker? They are going the psychology route. Mind games from Punk. But this feud doesn't have the same feel as The Undertaker's Wrestlemania feuds with Triple H and Shawn Michaels. The hype has been replaced by this storyline about revenge. And just looking at how the feud has been developed, it's nothing that surprised me or gave me more than I expected. Taker's promo on Raw was basic. CM Punk was his usual self. This feud has been lacking. Would it have been better if they went with the original plan before recent developments?
