Whether serious or not, or even legitimate or not, an injury angle has been inserted into the feud between Ryback and John Cena. That changes the nature of things. I was questioning last week whether this feud between John Cena and Ryback was mainly about giving Cena something to overcome or they were really interested in developing Ryback to be a star. Recent developments make the answer a little clearer.
It wasn't believable that one Ryback could be a legitimate threat for John Cena, but he might be a threat against an injured John Cena. The injury angle also allows Cena to sell his character more. Even injured, Cena would go out there to team with Kane and Daniel Bryan. It's looking more like Ryback will just be fed to Cena and then be moved back down. Makes me continue to wonder, what more can they develop to put Cena over with his current character after everything he has already overcome? There are only so many original ideas out there.
In a completely unrelated matter, the divas have this reality show coming up. To me, that is just an opportunity to sell how glamorous they are. From the time the diva division started, they would do little side projects like this to sell that. It has been mainly Playboy or other glamor magazine photoshoots. Sable, the first centerpiece of the diva division, did Playboy. With things being PG, they can't do that anymore. No Maxim diva this year? This reality show still follows in the same line. It is pretty much a glorified, elaborate answer to Playboy in the PG era. It gets more women involved, but it will not help to get the actual division back on its feet.
