Can Orton And Cena Coexist On Raw?

This is nothing about backstage issues between John Cena and Randy Orton. It is just that I am kind of surprised that Randy Orton was not sent to Smackdown last week. Orton is now a face. The kind of face that doesn't seem to take crap from anybody. I will not waste time comparing him to a certain other face who did not seem to trust anybody, or at least so his motto implied. Have you heard Orton's pops? Monster! John Cena, as far as I know, is still the WWE's main superhero. They will still continue to push him big time. Without even bringing Triple H into this equation, how can you have a title scene with both Orton and Cena as faces on the same show?

I know very well that Austin and The Rock were sometimes both faces on the same show. They did not really stick around long together for this era of two brands. Just brief moments here and there. Is it really so far off to compare those two to Cena and Orton? In the WWE's eyes, that is what they want.

Even with Orton's character being so untrustworthy, these guys are pretty much still on the same side. A feud between the two can be epic. However, the Orton fan in me wants to see Orton with the title eventually. I want to see him defend against the likes of Sheamus and heel Triple H. I do not want to see him under John Cena for who knows how long. I want to see him treated as a main-eventer without Cena involved. For certain periods in which Cena did not even have the World title, he was still taking the main event, not the man with the title. I do not see any good reason to treat Orton like that. It is only a matter of time before he should be given the ball.

What would have really changed if Orton was sent to Smackdown? Edge could have taken his face spot on Raw. Aside from Undertaker, who works a limited schedule, is it wrong to say that Smackdown lacks a face of Orton's level or higher? Question is, do they need one? Cena could have been the superpower on Raw and Orton could have been that on Smackdown. In the end, Orton seems still stuck under Cena for now.
