Brock Lesnar's 2016 Return

Brock Lesnar returned to Raw this week. He wants the WWE Championship back. The title is currently held by Roman Reigns, a man Lesnar has faced before. Reigns is currently being put through hell by the McMahons. He had to face a legion of heels on Raw. That deteriorated into an assault. Out came Lesnar. He tossed around those heels, then turned his attention to Roman Reigns. One F5 later, it looks like Brock Lesnar will be one of the 29 men looking to win the WWE Championship in the Royal Rumble match.

Even before the title was put on the line in the Rumble match, you had to consider the WWE would want to do Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar again for Wrestlemania. And Brock Lesnar winning the Rumble seemed like a possible way to make it happen. Roman Reigns is the guy the WWE is grooming as their new centerpiece. If the fans weren't so negative towards him last year, he probably would have gotten a huge Wrestlemania moment by defeating Brock Lesnar to win his first WWE Championship. Would the WWE now put the belt back on Lesnar so Reigns can finally win it off him at Wrestlemania this year? Yeah, that is a likely possibility.

When Lesnar came out at the end of Raw, was anyone thinking he might take out the heels and actually stand tall with Reigns? Brock Lesnar is a mercenary. He just attacks anyone, regardless of whether they are face or heel. Nevertheless, the WWE could have gone that direction. Why? How about to take some of the weight off the shoulders of Roman Reigns. It really looks like it is Roman Reigns going against the world. He has his little buddy, Dean Ambrose, around, but that isn't enough. Bring up another adversary for The Authority to deal with that actually has some strong credibility. Making it seem like the odds are too against Roman Reigns might sour fans on him. He hasn't exactly solidified an A+ connection with the fans. He is not really close to that. He would still get a rub from it looking like Lesnar respects him, but the feud would not look so one-sided. I think that is more important. Roman Reigns got that great reaction in recent weeks because he went out there and attacked authority figures fans did not like. He did not do it because he overcame "insurmountable" odds, like John Cena. Don't start giving him the character Cena has. Reigns will be ruined.
