Luke Harper won the Intercontinental Championship from Dolph Ziggler on Raw this week. Luke Harper is definitely deserving of a good push and title reign. Moreover, this title change adds some fuel to the feud between Team Authority and Team Cena.
Even though I have nothing against Luke Harper winning the title from Ziggler, did they have to do it now? Couldn't they wait for after Survivor Series? They could have had an actual feud develop between the two before Harper won it. You need good midcard feuds. The way they handled it, this was more of an extension of the main-event feud going on, not a true midcard feud. Did they do this to make Harper look more credible for the main event at Survivor Series? I wouldn't say that. His size and dangerous character give him credibility. As I mentioned before, this serves more to add some fuel to the storyline. You can let the lack of feud development slide, but the WWE better not make a habit out of it. They did this kind of thing when Dean Ambrose dropped the United States title to Sheamus. That was also more of an extension of another feud than an actual feud between Sheamus and Ambrose.
Should they toss the title back to Ziggler? Ziggler lost the title to Miz a little while ago and won it right back. Should Harper's title reign be that short, or close to it? I don't think so. I don't think fans should be upset about Ziggler not getting title reigns for a while. He had some title runs this year. Besides, this is a guy that should not need a title to be relevant. Keep him revolving near the main spotlight. Push him as an A player. With all the injuries and other issues, he should be promoted. Let Harper enter a midcard feud with some other face.
