Should they strip him of the title? Your top Champion will not be around for at least a few weeks. He was not being pushed as the main focus in recent weeks. That attention has gone primarily to The Shield and Evolution. Nevertheless, having no WWE Champion around is an issue. You just had this situation a few months ago. It was just a storyline back then. The title was vacated while Randy Orton and Daniel Bryan were feuding over it. What is going on now is just unfortunate. He was in the middle of a title feud against Kane. Do you just hand Kane the title? Fact is, I don't think they should wait to see how Daniel Bryan's surgery goes and how long he will be out. Neck surgeries are serious. And Daniel Bryan doesn't exactly wrestle a soft style. At the very least, he will be gone a few weeks. Would it even make storyline sense for The Authority to keep the title on him when he cannot defend it? What do you do with the title? They will think of something, but I don't think they should be banking on Daniel Bryan right now. It isn't fair to his health.
This is a pretty bad time for this to happen. Daniel Bryan was the hottest guy in the company. He is out of action. CM Punk left. You have John Cena and other top stars. You have The Shield and The Wyatts being pushed well. It could be worse, but the WWE does have a depth issue with major stars. Who takes Daniel Bryan's spot? Dolph Ziggler? He was the first name to come to my mind. I wouldn't even complain if they brought Cena back into the title hunt. He has been taking a rest period for a few months now. Luckily, the WWE seems to have a few top guys lost in the shuffle that could get called up for a push. Big Show? Mark Henry? A lot of people can complain about either of them entering a feud against Kane, but someone has to get pushed in Daniel Bryan's spot. Daniel Bryan will get back his spot when he returns.
